OFFICIAL WALK SHOES
We currently do not have a preferred shoe provider. Please contact us if you or someone you know is interested in selling shoes to Walk Organizers. Our shoes used to be specially crafted for us by Bernie Fatla @ La Dame. Bernie has retired, and we have not yet found anyone with the commitment, talent, and shoes that Bernie manufactured specifically for the Walk.
Homage to Bernie Fatla and Le Dame Shoes
Bernie Fatla’s contributions to Walk a Mile in Her Shoes are a testament to his dedication to creating positive change and supporting marginalized communities through his business and advocacy. As the co-founder of Le Dame Footwear, Fatla saw an opportunity to provide more than just products; he developed footwear designed explicitly in larger sizes with feminine styles, aiming to serve individuals in the cross-dressing, transgender, and drag queen communities. His support extended to this impactful initiative that raised awareness for gender violence, especially as the official footwear supplier for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.
Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, the international march to end rape, sexual assault, and gender violence, involves participants walking in high heels to “step outside the box” and experience a different perspective from the typical male experience of even something as simple as walking down the street. By supplying appropriate and comfortable shoes, Fatla has enabled participants of all gender identities to engage fully in the event, ensuring it’s as accessible and impactful as possible. His involvement with the initiative goes beyond business; it reflects a deep commitment to supporting causes that resonate with his values and the community he serves.
This partnership also aligned with Le Dame Footwear’s mission of inclusivity, providing a functional and symbolic way for individuals to participate in a demonstration of empathy and solidarity. By supporting Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, Bernie Fatla empowered many to walk not only in another’s shoes but also in a shared commitment to safety, awareness, and support for victims of gender-based violence.
