Possible Collateral Experiences & Publicity Partners
These really shouldn’t be called “collateral” experiences. They should be an integral part of any Walk Event. By “collateral” here we mean “additional” or “expansive” or “there should be more to a Walk Event than just the Walk.”
You can add to the experience and impact of a Walk Event by including collateral experiences such as those described below. These experiences can stand alongside other information provided during your Walk Event or along the Walk route for Walkers to wander through and explore while wearing Walk Shoes.
Education and experience is combined with a Walk A Mile in Her Shoes® Event. Learning through experience lasts longer than information presented to a passive recipient. The educational goals of a Walk Event include:
Increased awareness and recent statistics of the prevalence of sexualized violence toward:
cisgender women, cisgender women of color, female/femme presenting or identified persons, transgender women, transgender women of color
children,
men,
Causes of sexualized violence, including cultural aspects of patriarchy, toxic masculinity, and male entitlement,
Remedies to sexualized violence, including prevention and recovery,
Revelation, deconstruction and re/construction and co/construction of gender identities, gender presentations and gender practices.
